Addicted to love…I mean volunteering!

Starting tomorrow my days and nights will be filled with the C.O.O.L. Conference taking place on the Vandy Campus from Friday to Sunday. I happen to be one of the “student” planners even though I’m not a student any more. They were nice enough to let me play along. The conference is in its 22nd year with the goal of connecting, educating, and mobilizing college students and communities to build a world where all people can live free and dignified lives. Isn’t that nice? So yeah there will be over 1,500 extra students on Vanderbilt’s campus! Enjoy the traffic trouble we will cause this weekend.

Let’s continue…I’m about to head out of the office for a ONE Camping meeting. Yes there is a small group of local volunteers for the ONE Campaign who try to spread awareness about topics such as AIDS, poverty, African crisis, fair trade, etc… We have a rep from Bread for the World coming to encourage us tonight.

Recently I’ve started volunteering at 10,000 Villages at least one Saturday a month. The store carries only fair traded items and everyone there is so nice. Next time you need a gift for some one special…or not so special…stop by and take a look.

I hope this didn’t sound too much like an info commercial….BUT this is local stuff going on in Nashville and I’m happy to be a part of it all!

Enjoy the last minutes of sunshine….I’m outta here!

I happened to have been the Conference Organizer for the 2000 COOL Conference (Manchester, New Hampshire). I was a full-time employee of COOL.

Maybe I will try to stop by and see if there is anyone I know there.
