Oldie But A Goodie
Not sure if this link made the rounds before I joined the blog, but Nashville Scene’s Best of Nashville from October names some amazing restaurants, many of which are still on my to-do list. The article’s honor for best local beer (Yazoo) also got me thinking. Does Nashville have any local brews other than Yazoo? The only ones I can think of are from the likes of Blackstone and Bosco’s.

There’s Big River, too, right downtown..
Is Bohannon still around? The vanilla beer?
Nashville is home to 4 breweries. However for the sake of clarity, I consider it to be two. Big River and Bosco’s are clearly marketed as “franchises”, whereas Blackstone and Yazoo are Nashville originals.
For my tastes Yazoo is clearly the better brewery with respect to the always available brews, pale ale, heifeweizen. However Blackstone makes, on occasion, a stupendous IPA.
To learn more about the history of Nashville’s breweries past and present look for this book:
Nashville Brewing - By Scott R. Mertie
isbn: 978-0738543475
It has a wealth of information, was written by a local, and you can buy it right in the Yazoo taproom, Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
