Newsflash! We’re not all a bunch of toothless hicks

A good many luxury brands have set up shop here, as you know, and Bloomberg is paying attention to that as an indicator that brands are reaching out to less affluent customers and those outside of major metropolitan markets.

Is it me, or is the tone of that article something like “who knew they even used cash money down there?”

It does sound a wee bit like that. But the article was written by Cotten Timberlake. Cotten Timberlake. Now that sounds like a name for a Tennessean!

“Nashville wasn’t an obvious luxury market,” John Slavinsky, senior vice president for Louis Vuitton USA, said in an interview. “

I agree, Kate. Why is Nashville’s wealth under the radar?

Who the hell names their kid “Cotten Timberlake?”

I hate that so much. We have a world class art museum, amazing new symphony center, a huge Ivy League type college, amazing hospitals, and some very intelligent people here. I just despise people who portray our city as a hole in the wall backwards country town, when we’re not at all. Sure we’re not thought of as upscale, but with new additions to our city we’re getting there!
